To reserve a spot for poetry, short story, or memoir send an email darabarnat@yahoo.com . You can choose to attend workshops for as many genres as you wish. The groups will be not more than 10 but not less than 5. If there are less than 5 people the workshop will not take place and I will inform those who have signed up. When you have signed up I will send you further necessary information. Look forward to seeing you there! Each workshop meeting is 110 NIS (220 NIS for two meetings). Poetry: Tuesday, July 5 and Sunday, July 10 (5:30-8:00) In these sessions we will be focusing on poetry of the everyday…the poetry that celebrates our everyday, seemingly mundane, experiences in the world. We will be both reading poetry by others and writing and sharing our own. Short Story: Tuesday, July 12 (5:30-8:00) In this session we will be focusing on writing short scenes that must convey a great deal of experience, including characterizations, dialogue, setting, and plot. We will be doing a close reading of a short story and writing and sharing our own scenes. Memoir: Sunday, July 17 and Sunday, July 24 (5:30-8:00) In these sessions we will be exploring the stories of our lives and how to adapt these stories into written works. We will be addressing issues of memoir writing, including narrative structure, setting, dialogue, and “character.” We will also be reading and discussing selections from a recent memoir. In these sessions if people have memoirs or memoir essays they are working on there will be an opportunity to share and receive feedback.
